Where did the time go?

My heart is beating so hard.
I feel as if my chest might burst wide open.

It was just shy of  18 years ago
I laid in a hospital bed awaiting the arrival of our
BABY BOY
Just one day earlier the doctor had told me
he would start me in four days
if I hadn't gone into labor on my own by then.

I quickly explained to him how that wouldn't work because the
GRANTSVILLE COWBOYS
played football in 4 days in San Juan and we had to be there.

He looked at me in dis-belief
and said he'd see me on Monday.
I looked back at him and smiled.

Then Jeff and I drove to the
store, purchased some
castor oil
and took things into
our own hands.

Less than 12 hours later
Dillon "Hummer" Hutchins
said hello to the world!

And just 4 days after that, the
GHS Football Team
met their BIGGEST FAN for the first time.

That's right ... Dillon attended his first
Grantsville High School Football game
when he was just FOUR DAYS old.

Since that day,
I don't know if there has been anyone more true to
COWBOY FOOTBALL

From the time he was so very little he always felt
he belonged to THE TEAM
(He's the little one in the corner.)

And since that day,
he has never missed a game!

He was there when he was
ONE.

He was there when he was
TWO.

He was there when he was
THREE.

He was there when he was
FOUR.

He was always
in uniform
and always looking like, well,
HUMMER!!

His whole life has been about
COWBOY FOOTBALL!!

Finally when he was EIGHT
he got a
COWBOY UNIFORM
of his very
OWN!!!

He wore it side by side with
these guys...

Today I woke up to realize
the clock has been ticking
faster than I'd hoped...

Tonight he will stand side by side with
those boys once more

It's SENIOR NIGHT
My heart will most likely pound harder than it is right now.
I will pray that it won't stop beating
for I feel like it's breaking open.

Because even though
 THIS is
 Hummer's reality.

In my heart,
he still looks
like THIS.

Happy Senior Night
to one of Grantsville High School's
TRUEST!

Happy Senior Night to our
BABY BOY!!

Can you handle it?

Hummer got the question answered tonight.
Did he MAKE the team?
As he was sharing the
great news
 that he is most definately
made the team
(yay! yay! yay!)
my mind flashed back
to THEE NIGHT he got
that great news last year.
Can you handle it if we reminisce?
Seriously can you?
Are you geared up for it?!

He is not Hutch.

As you know,
there are 3 significant men in my life.

The first has been referred to as
"Hutch"
"Elder Hutch"
"Coach Hutch"
"Bro. Hutch"

The second hasn't been around
as long as the first.
So he's only earned two
of the titles thus far.
"Hutch"
"Elder Hutch"

It makes sense to you...
Right?
Jeff Hutchins ... a.k.a ... "Hutch"
Tyson Hutchins ... a.k.a ... "Hutch"

The third hasn't been around
as long as the first or
as long as the second.

Even though he is
Dillon Hutchins

He is NOT ... a.k.a. ... "Hutch"
He is ... a.k.a. ..."Hummer"

Some have asked why, especially since his real name is
Dillon James Hutchins

I could tell you, but he tells it so much better!

I'm leavin' today...

Yep, that boy
who loves his hometown more than life itself,
is headed out.

He called us from the airport around 6:00 a.m.
We smiled as he reported
what had happened there.

It reminded us why we live here, in...

It's because of ... The Luggage
Ty was worried about the juggling the weight of his luggage because seriously, packing 2 years into two pieces of luggage is a giant feat!

Then he heard Utah say...
"Good Morning Elder!
Let's get those bags on the plane for ya!"
(No need to put them on the scale)

And because of the ... Phone call
Ty was hoping he could figure
out how to use the payphone because
seriously, he's never used one.

Then he heard Utah say...
"Good Morning Elder!
Would you like to use my cell phone
to call home?"
(Businessman, Stranger, Saint)

Well, Tyson sounded
excellent in everyway.
He's so excited to get to New York and
"Start spreadin' the news!"

Ha! Ha! Ha!
In light of that "line", how can I resist
posting the video below?!
I can't, so I will.

Plus, Grandma Hutch thinks the words are so appropriate
and I've gotta agree, you might too...
"Start spreadin' the news..."
"I'm leavin' today... "
"These vagabond shoes..."

I really could go on and on.
In fact, I could teach a lesson using those lyrics.
I won't, but I could.

But one thing I will do is share with you
the the line that almost
ripped the heart out of my chest

"these little town blues..."

Yeah, I cried a little bit when I heard those words.
Ummmmm okay, I may be crying a little bit now.

Speaking of "NEWS"...
Did ya hear what's happening in New York?

Well, to the people of NYC...
I'm giving you my son...
 So now...

(Do a leg kick, you know you want to!)

Elder Hutchins

Believe it or not,
my emotions are
not in check enough
to blog about
dropping
Tyson off at
the MTC.

So check back.

However, I did want to share something with you.
It's a treasure provided by my dear friend.
Her talent translated
into something that, to me, is absolutely...

Thank you my friend!
I will love you FOREVER!

Heather Kimber can capture your priceless moments too!

Oh and if you want one of those giant missionary tags,
my sweet Carolynn made that for me.
She'll make you one too.
