Homecoming '08

This past week GHS celebrated HOMECOMING!
We had a busy time but it was great fun.
Lots of wonderful memories were made.
Join us for the adventure...

Sporting #10 ... Tyson Hutchins
Our first official GHS Cowboy.

The week kicks off with
The Powder Puff Game.
Tyson and Austin are the coaches of the Junior Class. They were undefeated going into the game. I won't elaborate... I'll just mention that they no longer hold this record. (This writing is small because we are not talking about this.)

The Pep Assembly was next on the agenda. It was fun. The team all came in their "best dress" to prepare for "The Funeral". So great to be in high school!

Here is Ty with his annual Homecoming Care Package from Mom and Dad. It is filled with a few of his favorite things. Uncle Mark delivered it to him in Seminary.

Homecoming isn't homecoming without a little (or a lot) of FACE PAINTING. This is Dillon and Dallin. In case you are wondering... this is done with a SHARPIE! Oh, don't faint. It really does wash right off!

The PARADE is next. It lasts about 15 minutes but it's fun. We always watch at Grandma and Grandpa Johns' house. This is the
Football Team.

Aren't the cheerleaders cute? Our niece, Ally is the smiling blond on the end. She really is as sweet as she looks.

The pre-game TAILGATE PARTY was delicious. This is Grandma and Grandpa Hutch with Grandpa Johns'. Shortly after this picture the rain came down and was on/off all through the game.

To the delight of a packed stadium...
Here come the Cowboys...
BACK IN BLACK!

Ty had well over 40 fans supporting him on this night... however, none could ease the heartbreak.

Our 2 boys/best friends.
Each feels the other's pain
We Love You Ty!

Awe, don't be sad... Homecoming isn't all about Football you know! There were more festivities on Saturday and it brought SMILES back to those in despair. Read on...

Tyson asked Sadie Hale to the Homecoming Dance. Don't they look fabulous? This event was Sadie's first date ... how fun is that?!

The day began at 11:00 a.m. as they all headed for Jump on It in Lindon to PLAY. They had a great time and stopped at Wendy's on the way home for a quick snack.

Small PROBLEM though... pouring rain!! This set the time table back about an hour (or two) but I don't think anyone cared... they were having such a ball.

After the fun, everyone returned home to get ready for the dance. Then it was back in Salt Lake (in the rain) for dinner. They went to Little America and had an adventure trying to understand their little Chinese waitress. Luckily Tyson had been there before so he knew the drill.

The dinner was lovely and they headed back to Grantsville for the dance... which proved to be a BOMB. They stayed long enough to have their pictures taken then ditched it.

Back home to change clothes. Then over to our house for the chocolate bar and a movie (more like a nap). The kids were really tired ... wonder why? It all wrapped up about 1:30 am.

Here they are: Austin Butler and Melissa Baird, Taylor Matthews and Makenna Branch, Tyson and Sadie.

Little Dilly-Bob was banned to the bedroom and told not to come out.

Didn't I say earlier that he and Ty were best friends? I guess that wouldn't apply in every situation... Tyson is not feeling his pain! However, notice that Dill didn't exit without a visit to the chocolate bar!

It was a busy, fun and altogether GREAT week.
Once again, a sweet reminder of what
I love about my small town!
Happy Homecoming!

I have always loved Homecoming! I have great memories of being a Grantsville Cowboy. That is another thing that makes me sad when I think about moving.

Thanks for the play by play of Homecoming week. All I really was able to see was the parade -- which was pretty WEAK. I'm glad Ty had fun and that the school really does have a few traditions left. He is so handsome and nice. I thought it was a little mean that Dillion had to stay away from the party. Maybe when Ty is married and Dillion has a Homecoming date night--he can ban him from it!! Have a great day
PS
Sophie and I love your blog, it's our favorite 2 am activity!!

Oh my word!!! It looks like you guys had more fun than should be allowed! Ty looked "oh so dashing" all dressed up for the dance! And Dill- good for you, stealing the chocolate was a good idea! All-in-all, that's the feeling I always had with homecoming, busy, fun, and lots of memories!

I always associated the beginning of fall with homecoming...one of my favorite times of my high school days. It's even better when you have so much family support!
