Moderation People

I know how it gets ... THE GUILT.
It appears far, far, far to often in our lives.
Did I make that clear (far to often)?
I'm confident you know what I mean.

If not, let me explain...

The feeling that you need to be spending your time more righteously...
such as reading your Scriptures instead of "Twilight".
Been there, done that.

The feeling that you need to be as good as the mom is across the street...
such as fixing steak for dinner instead of Lynn Wilson Burritos.
Been there, done that.

The feeling that your free time needs to be better spent...
such as watching "The Spoken Word" instead of "Everybody Loves Raymond".
Been there, done that.

The feeling that you should never think of yourself...
such a getting your haircut more than once every four months.
Been there, DOING that.

FYI - This is me after Jeff "highlighted" by brown hair. Ummm, yeah. Not recommended.

Okay... I think I got my point across.

Well, this morning I had an EPIPHANY. I was on my morning walk, jamming out the the music Tyson so lovingly put on my i-pod (no, he won't teach me how to do it... would take far to much time) and the thought came to me...

"This walk would not be as effective if I were listening to The Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing 'I Believe in Christ' (which I definitely do, 'believe') ."

At that moment I realized that we need to have
MODERATION IN ALL THINGS.

So gone are the days of feeling guilty for listening to Bowling for Soup (ummm yeah, it's a group) sing about my past in "1985".

Gone are the days of feeling guilty as I cool down while laughing my head off to Adam Sandler's "Hanuka Song".

(I'm sorry but it's one of my favorites ... but not as much as "I Believe in Christ".)

Okay, so you get it the idea. If you want to be happy LET GO OF THE GUILT, my people!! Sit down and read "Twilight". Make Lynn Wilson Burritos for dinner tonight. Watch "Everybody loves Raymond". Go for a jam out walk. And, for heaven's sake, get your haircut (I just made an appointment) !

Even our good friend and Prophet, Pres. Hinckley said...
"In all of living have
much love and laughter
life is to be enjoyed,
not just endured."

Oh, and just for fun ...
"The Hanuka Song" is playing for your GUILT FREE enjoyment!
Happy Day and TAKE THE POLL!
(The poll has ended but 71% admitted they suffer from "guilt".)

Okay, have I not been preaching "moderation"? Then why in the world did I just eat an ENTIRE cantaloupe while writing this post??!! I'm completely serious!!

It's a hard lesson to learn. Repeat with me,
"Moderation, Moderation, Moderation... "

Thank you so much for this post. I often am plagued by the "guilt monster" for not being the top mom on the block, or for spoiling myself and getting hair cuts or going to a movie with Chad instead of going to the fire side meeting. I often forget that we are just as much here to gain a earthly experience as we are a spiritual one. Thank you! I loved this blog, by the way...Haunaka is one of my all time FAV. songs!!!!!!!:)

My Lovely Krista-
Sometimes I wonder how you can be so inspired!?! Why is it that you know what I need to hear? Thanks for both of your posts! I do feel guilty when I am unable to meet everyone's needs, when I disappoint those I love, when I just don't have enough to give...I am thankful for so many great things in my life...Even small guilty pleasures...

I know what you mean! The days I'm the happiest are the days that my house is trashed with toys, we all go on a scavenger hunt for dinner, and I let it go and dont care.

Krista, I'v said it before and I'll say it again.. Your posts are so timely. It's like your a fly on the wall of my life. (are you?) I have been feeling sooo much of this mom guilt lately. Thanks for reminding me It's ok to just go with the flow. I think I'll spend my weekend watching all 12 project runways that I have on DVR. Hmmmmm maybe 6 would be moderation.

Well put Krista, I totally agree.

So did you ever have a mini skirt made of snake skin? And who is that other guy that singing with Van Halen?
